Getting started with The Deep Edge
Four steps take you from a new account to a Fantrax league that every Deep Edge tool has scored against your league's own rules. Allow about 10 minutes.
- Fantrax only. Yahoo, ESPN and Sleeper are coming soon.
- Desktop or tablet in landscape. The tables are wide; most screens are cramped on a phone.
- Season pass: US$35 for the season — one payment, not a subscription, and it covers every league you connect. Until 4 October 2026, the founding price takes 20% off, bringing it to US$28.
- Your Fantrax Secret ID. You'll need it in step 2.
Sign up and get your season pass
- Go to The Deep Edge and click Open The Deep Edge.
- Create your free account. Sign up with Google is fastest. Or use an email and password, then click the link in the confirmation email from FantasyHoopsEdge— check spam if it isn't in your inbox.
- Once you're signed in, the season pass screen opens. Click Buy to pay through our secure checkout, claiming the founding discount first.
- After payment, The Deep Edge switches on for your account within a few seconds and opens by itself.
Have a partner pass? Skip the purchase: sign in with the exact email the pass was set up for and you'll go straight into the tool.
Connect Fantrax and import a league
Find your Secret ID first. Sign in at Fantrax, open your User Profile page and copy the Secret ID.
- On the Connect your league screen, click Connect on the Fantrax card.
- Enter your Fantrax username, paste your Secret ID, and click Authenticate.
- You land on Home. Click + Add a league.
- The NBA leagues on your Fantrax account are listed. Click Import next to the one you want.
- The league card appears on Home marked Settings imported. Repeat from step 3 for each extra league — the pass covers them all.
Your Secret ID stays in your browser. It goes straight from your browser to Fantrax and is never sent to, stored on or logged by a Fantasy Hoops Edge server. It's kept for the current browser tab only: your imported leagues stay saved, but to add another league on a later visit you'll enter it again.
Review your league settings
Every value in The Deep Edge is calculated from these settings, so a two-minute check here is what makes the numbers right for your league. Most of it is filled in from Fantrax already.
- On the league card on Home, click Review settings.
- If the line under the title says N fields need a quick confirm, those fields are marked in the cards — usually the total salary cap, sometimes the scoring format.
- Work down the cards and fix anything the import got wrong:
| Card | What to check |
|---|---|
| League basics | Scoring format (Roto, H2H categories or Points), league type (Redraft, Keeper or Dynasty), salary mode, number of teams |
| Scoring categories | Tap a category to switch it on or off. Categories we don't model, such as double-doubles, are shown for information only. |
| Roster & positions | Starting slots, bench, IR and minors |
| Games & lineups | Daily or weekly lineup changes, and any games-started caps |
| Salary cap | Confirm the total cap and whether it's soft or hard |
| Keepers & contracts | Keeper limit, rookie draft rounds, taxi squad, contract rules, and the rookie salary scale for custom-salary leagues |
| Waivers & trades | FAAB or rolling waivers, FAAB budget, trade deadline |
Then click Save changes. The bar at the bottom should read All settings saved.
Generate asset values
Asset values are the trade values Trade Edge and League Rankings use for every player and draft pick in your league. Until you generate them, the league card shows Assets not valued and trade values won't be right.
- The first time Home loads a keeper or dynasty league, it asks Generate league asset trade values? Click Yes, generate, then Confirm — generate now.
- If you clicked Not now, use the Generate asset values button on the league card's red Assets not valued strip.
- When it finishes, the strip turns green: Asset values active.
| Your league | What gets valued |
|---|---|
| Custom salary | Every rostered player, free agent and draft pick, priced against your league's own salary and contract rules. Fill in the rookie salary scale in Settings first. |
| Real salary, standard dynasty or keeper | Each draft pick priced individually by its slot, using real dynasty consensus. Players keep their standard FHE values. |
| Redraft | Nothing to generate — the tools use FHE's season projections directly. Skip this step. |
Click View & regenerate on the league card to see every asset with its trade value, owner and salary. Click Regenerate after a big roster change, or when the page warns the values may be stale.
What to do next
Click Go deep on the league card, or pick a tool from the sidebar.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Power Rankings | Applies FHE projections to simulate where your team finishes against the rest of your league. |
| Roster Edge | Your full roster, real per-game stats, salary and dynasty context in one table. |
| Category Edge | Your starters, plus bench depth, against every team's best lineup — category by category. |
| Trade Edge | Simulate a trade and see the real before/after — standing, category impact, asset value. |
| Waiver Edge | The best available free agents, ranked for your league's format. |
| League Rankings | Every player, free agent and pick — custom, dynasty, real-salary and redraft rankings side by side. |
